I think you must be certifiably insane to even come close to thinking Jay Z is anything but the best rapper alive then.. If you have listened to "so much rap" you would realize this..

I am sorry but Jay Z is not the best rapper in the game right now. His last album sucked badly. The rap game is dead right now and Jay Z is great and he will forever be in the record books but this isn't his best work and sadly to say, he just isn't the best right now.

I'l say it, Kanye pre-autotune > current Jay-Z... by a landslide.

Kanye pre auto tune.. the whole 2 albums? lol.. Now he is using a synthesizer cause he sucks..

Jay Z has kept innovative raps and hot lyrical skills for nearly 20 years now.. And Blueprint 3 sucked??? What album did you listen to? That album was pure gold..

Pure gold? You are deaf my friend. He is rapping about money, cars and women in the BP3. Nothing innovative about that. The only song I like is Empire State of Mind and that is partly to Alicia Keys. You are kidding yourself if you think Jay Z's last few albums were great. Decent to good but no where to being great.

Kanye Wests first 3 albums, College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation were great albums. A rapper doesn't have to drop an album every year to be great, those 3 albums alone triumphs over anything Jay Z has come out with the past 3-4 years. Kanye had a major set back with 808 but even that album wasn't bad at all, it's something new and different and some of it worked well enough to make it a good album. He is over the whole synthesizer thing though and Kanye proved he can still rap by over shadowing JayZ in his own single, "Run This Town."

Jay Z retired and really, he should have because Kingdom Come and BP3 are sub par work. Like I said rap is dead, I really need to just listen to Mos Def or Talib or Nas, actually, I rather enjoyed TI's latest album over Jay Z's this year. Jay Z hasn't lost his spark but he it just isn't the same when your making millions already and have nothing to prove. Sorry but the BP3 is good but just not great.

I agree Kingdom Come was garbage.. But BP3 and American Gangster were excellent albums.. Plus it also helps the wonderful catelog of albums he has out before his retirement.. Blueprint 1 and 2.. Black Album. Reasonable Doubt. Those 4 trump most rap albums..

While I agree there is few keeping rap alive right now.. Drake comes to mind.. I would take Public Enemy, NWA, and Eric B and Rakim over ANY of the rap nowadays.. So I agree with you there.. But rap isnt dead.. Mainstream rap is on its last leg.. But with gurus such as Immortal Technique, Tech N9ne, Prozak, and many others holding down "horrorcore" or underground rap.. Alot of good music to be heard

I don't know, it all started when Ja Rule started singing instead of rapping, I mean those were good times being in a high school and everything but now I just see it as the beginning of the end. I just haven't heard much worth listening to now-a-days. Drake is decent, so is Wale and Kid Cudi but then theres Flo-Rida and Pitbull and Baby Bash who makes me want to stab my ear with a pencil. Same with R&B, I miss Next and Destiny's Child and 112, etc... Those were the good old days and sadly, I do not see it coming back anytime soon.

At least with R&B, I got John Legend and Musiq and Neyo to hold me down. With rap, I got no salvation at the moment.
